Clever Projects

CLEVER is an acronym for Character, Leadership, Education, Values, Effort and Results. It comprises a series of NLI projects for secondary school-age children: Clever Clubs, Notes2Note and Wordslam

CLEVER Clubs

NLI has developed an after-school civics curriculum for secondary schools. The curriculum contains practical lessons on values in the form of role play scenarios. The curriculum and accompanying training pack can be used to set up clubs in schools.

A pilot club was set up by NLI at Ahmadu Ribadu College, Adamawa State. Student Prefects, Teachers and Principals were trained by NLI.

The ultimate aim of the clubs is to motivate students to perform well in exams and pursue group community projects.

Notes2Note

Notes2Note is a series of animated videos on the values of the founding fathers on the Naira Notes. The Naira notes explain the importance of values over financial gain and emphasise the principles embodied by the founding fathers.

The narration for the 30 minute documentary was performed by the following Nigerian celebrities: MI, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal, BOUQUI, TY Bello, Aisha Augie-Kutta, Omawumi, RoofTop MCs, C-Flow and Sasha.

The project was launched at a video screening at a Lagos cinema to which local secondary school students were invited. NLI plans to organize screenings at secondary schools nationally. This will be followed by a DVD distribution campaign.

Wordslam

To celebrate Nigeria’s 50th Anniversary, young Nigerians aged 10 to 16 were asked to develop spoken word pieces, using 4 of NLI’s 10 values. The writer of the best piece, Joyce Hanson (aka Miss Boss) recorded the theme song for StandUP Naija with recording artiste, BOUQUI and producer, Sossick. Learn more.
