January 2007 Senior Leaders (“Fellows”) Class

From January 17-21, 2007, NLI successfully held its second Senior Leaders Class seminar at the Grove, Hertfordshire, UK. The 4-day Seminar was coordinated by  Segun Aganga, the NLI Director & Founder and facilitated by Keith Berwick and Peter Reiling of the Aspen Institute Washington D.C.

The 20 invididuals who were nominated to attend the Seminar are Nigerian are men and women who have achieved success in fields of finance, education, health, business, public administration and civil society development. The Seminar gave the participants an opportunity to reflect, sharpen their leadership skills and develop a values-based leadership style.

The January 19, 2007 NLI Symposium on the China-Africa Relationship

On January 19, 2007, NLI held its first symposium with the theme “Can the Nigerian Eagle learn from the awakening of the Chinese Dragon?” The panel members of the symposium included Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (NLI 2007 Fellow), former Head of the Nigerian Economic Intelligence Team, Prof. Lawal Marafa, (NLI 2007 Fellow) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Prof. Jonathan Liu of the University of Wales, United Kingdom.

The Symposium was very useful in informing and education all present as to how Nigeria can leverage on any investment relationships with China and the rest of the world. Nigerians need to be adequately informed about all issues affecting the country and they need to be educated as to what roles they can play in the process.
